On August 29th, 2025, I quit my dream job, as Senior Podcast Producer at Blockworks.
For anyone unfamiliar, Blockworks is one of the most respected brands in crypto media and I’d been trying to get a foot in the door there for years.
I had run the Future Signal podcast before that, led media at Compass Mining, and built multiple 100+ episodes podcasts, so, when the Blockworks opportunity came, it felt like the move I'd been building toward, as a crypto podcast professional.
In the spring of 2025, I joined Blockworks and it may sound silly, but I celebrated like I had just scored a winning goal in the World Cup Final a-la Iniesta.
At Blockworks, I produced EMPIRE, which is one of the top crypto podcasts in the world.
On paper, the gig was everything until it wasn’t.
I don’t remember the specific date, but it was early August of 2025 when I had a performance review with my boss. I can’t recall all the specifics, but I know all the feedback was spot on.
To keep a long story short, I realized that while all the feedback was valid, I had no skin in the game, as I wasn’t picking up any equity at Blockworks, and was burnt the f-ck out. Pardon my Spanish, but that's where I was.
Weeks later, on Friday August 29th, 2025 I left my dream job, because:
I was burned out and honestly needed a rest.
I had 0 skin in the game and wanted more ownership in the projects I support.
I wasn’t the best fit for the role and needed to move aside to ensure that EMPIRE could reach its potential.
The following Monday, when I would’ve been logging into work, I felt free and less anxious.
After years of a full calendar, urgent Slack messages, social media posts to publish and working outside of the stipulated 9-5, because, well, that’s what you do to get the job done not just in corporate America, but specifically in tech media. I felt free. The silence was genuinely disorienting.
This lasted for about 2 days and was followed by a deep feeling of tremendous gratitude for the professional opportunities I’ve had and and a deep sense of responsibility for my own future.
At the time, my plan was to go all-in on my own podcast, Future Signal, and take all the things I’d learned while at Compass Mining and Blockworks into my own media channel.
However, upon reflection, this felt like a continuation of a professional trajectory that had burned me out, so on February 3rd, 2026, after 5 years of publishing episodes, I published my last Future Signal podcast.
Between leaving Blockworks and publishing the last Future Signal episode, I’ve spent time with family and friends, traveled and read things I’d bookmarked years ago, but never had the energy for.
Since leaving Blockworks, I’ve spent hours talking with friends around the world about building wealth, investing, money, inflation, currency debasement, technology, the current job market, what's actually happening in the economy on an individual level and how AI is going to impact all of it.
All of these conversations led to one action – building.
Building provides me the ownership I lacked at Blockworks and fully embodies the responsibility I have and feel for my own future, something that’s highly scarce today in a world of ever growing anxiety brought on by potential nuclear war, real rampant inflation and the question of our time: “How will AI impact me?”
Now, I’m not going to get into what I'm building yet, but I will say that it wouldn’t have been possible without this hiatus and reset.
I could end this with some wise words about quitting your job and following your dreams, but honestly don’t – a salary is a precious thing these days.
I will end this, however, by saying that quitting your job isn’t the end of the world, it’s just a start of something new. Something different. And, in my case, it’s the beginning of building a 1 person business with AI.
I’ll be writing soon about what I’m building, so stay tuned. And, if you can’t wait til then, here’s a sneak peak.
If you want me to create content about a certain topic or have a question, as it relates to my journey build a 1 person business with AI, please leave a comment – I read everything.
